Interior Building Drainage
York House Foods was established in 1970 and has been creating the finest quality meat products since. Many industry-leading names rely on York House Foods for the cuts, recipes and ingredients that give them their strong competitive edge.
Component Developments was approached to design, manufacture and supply the stainless steel floor drainage systems and surface protection products throughout their factory.
All stainless steel drainage channels were designed to have reinforced shoulders (3010RS) , to help them bear the weight of pallet trucks, trolleys and other instruments often found in food production factories. The channels all included built in falls to help encourage disposal and discourages the occurrence of ponding. The falls led to a stainless steel gully complete with a removable waste basket, odour trap and rodding port.
The removable waste basket is a key component especially when fitting gullies into food production factories. This will catch any debris that falls into the system and prevent blockage and failure of the system. Within food factories there is concern that employees may take the baskets out of the gully pots and block the systems deliberately as flooding may lead to closure until the problem can be dealt with. In these cases, Component Developments can offer a secondary sieve plate which is screwed to the bottom of the gully, below the waste basket to prevent the potential for sabotage and further streamline the filtration process.
York House Foods has two walk-in ovens which are necessary to their production. Due to this, the drainage channels for this area were supplied in two halves so one oven could be shut down, whilst the other one continued to function. The channels were butted together on installation to create one large drainage barrier.
The drainage channels by the oven were also designed to have a 100mm shoulder, which was welded to the oven complete with 69mm diameter holes which resin could be installed into to help reinforce the shoulder, before the holes were welded and re-fitted to create a smooth surface. This also increased the strength as this area was high traffic due to regular use.
All stainless steel drainage channels were topped with a heavy duty grating with a 23 x 23mm open smooth mesh, and a 30 x 3mm load bar. This helped the systems become more effective at withstanding the weight of factory equipment.
Component Developments also supplied multiple stainless steel surface protection products including double sided kerbing, crash rails and bollards. All three of these help protection the walls or doors from any potential damage that could be caused by pallet trucks or trolleys. The surface protection products are easy to clean and can withstand the high acidic or alkali cleaning products commonly found within food production factories.
The final solution was a hygienic stainless steel surface protection and floor drainage solution which met all speficications and hydraulic requirements whilst being supplied in a way which allowed staged installation preventing the need for a full factory shut-down which would cause a sales loss or production delay.
Component Developments has 30 years of experience supplying hygienic stainless steel drainage solutions for some of the most prestigious commercial kitchens throughout the UK.
Component Developments designed a stainless steel floor drainage solution specially for places where hygiene and durability are paramount such as the Food and Drink industry.
