component developments

Careful consideration to the following factors determine the channels design:

PROFILE

The compact design proves to be a cost-effective, easy to clean system which ensures a free flow of waste. Without the need for gratings the channel provides a continuous slot along its length that creates a system ideal for use in conveying surface water and as a barrier between wet and dry areas.

A range of edge profiles are available depending on the floor finish, including special profiles to accommodate flexible flooring materials. Channels can also be designed to provide vinyl one side and resin or tile the other if required.

The range includes the option of a removable central bar, specifically designed to suit bare feet – keeping the channel aperture to a minimum to ensure safe traffic and with the ability to remove the central bar to aid cleaning

FALL

The excellent smooth surface finish of stainless steel provides a self-cleansing velocity of liquids at very shallow gradients, (this being 0.75 m/s). Velocities below this figure require manual flushing. The typical gradient is 1% (1:100) but the 3600 series offers the option of a 50mm deep level invert channel, which has been successfully installed, only the ends being slightly shimmed higher to prevent back-flow and ponding. Please note that discharge capacities of the drainage channel is relative to the flow rate capacity of the outlet.

GRATING

See 4000 series grating section

OUTLET

Options include connecting to a 5000 series gully, which will require the use of a connection box and a choice of a suitable 4000 series grating, a plug-in trap or untrapped Ø54mm, Ø110mm or Ø160mm outlet spigot.

ACCESSORIES

For applications where heavy loads and/or thermal shock are anticipated, an expansion frame around the perimeter is recommended. The expansion frame is supplied factory tack welded to all profiles, except the Vinoseal compact, by specifying the channel profile and adding the suffix letters EF eg, 3630EF. The expansion frame offers a true square strong edge for dressing-in resin and allows the floor finish to be separated from the channel, thus reducing the possibility of cracking under vibration or expansion.
