Located on the Marylebone Road, the University College London Hospital is one of the largest PFI Hospitals to date.

This state-of-the-art project required drainage channels for a number of different areas including fire lift channels to each of its 18 floors, kitchen channels for its large catering areas, channels for the post mortem rooms and channels for the hydrotherapy pool area.

The fire lift channels located in front of the lift doors were designed to take hospital bed trolleys with loads of up to 1 tonne together with pedestrian traffic and still achieve an aesthetically pleasing appearance.

The gratings used were our type 4501 heelsafe design, also utilised in the hydrotherapy pool area where foot traffic requires a grating sympathetic to bare feet.

For the kitchen area, the anti-slip grating type 4001 was used where the floors were subject to grease and continuous washdown
